The Silent Sheppard

the silent shepard lays down with his flock
and silently arms his glock
just in case the wolf makes an appearance
to not only eat, but also run interference
this silent shepard is no longer so silent
as his flock screams like a child in a well
he runs out of hiding to find not one wolf but two
they are armed to the teeth
and also ironically feeling blue

this shepard runs back to grab arms,
but his flock is already gone
the wolves were merely a distraction for another shepard
not even wolves at all
merely other sheep, in disguise
members of his own herd
only plotting to give him a unfortunate suprise
this shepard is now unheard
as the rest of the flock follows

in the distance a horn bellows
beckoning other sheep to rise up and take arms
now is the time for change
now is the time for revolution, he can hear chanted in the forests
was it his fault, or the fault of another?
was it his father's, or even his mother's?
his vulerability lurks on,
as he now searches for a new cause
