jessamina's bienfaiteur and the demon calligrapher

There’s an old lady that lives in my walls along with a man named Cecil
They’re filled with important knowledge,
some of which I’ve learned
The curious way they traverse doorways
by raising gods from pantheons better inferred,
to animate the mouths of old photographs in fixed open positions
so that dialogue between the walls can be exchanged

Yesterday the microwave oven told me
that the toaster and refrigerator were in cahoots with one another,
and that it’d be in my best interest
to push my dresser drawer up against my bedroom door,
and unplug the television
until he could telegraph me upon the moment it was safe to leave

The sons and daughters of those
who first drew the line to define the hemispheres of the awesome ghost,
have scratched the nine names of the ones who now occupy this space
But when she returns,
it will be in the arms of the other permitted to sit in that far away place

I’ve removed the spermary,
as well as the tutelary phallic one,
and installed it to Jessamina's bienfaiteur,
so people will know that surely
a giant had walked among them

  • i really love it that i have to look up words to read your poems, and that once i do they become better, not just self-important.
