Just a child~
brown-brushed skin and barefeet
curled beneath, watching
River carry blooms
beyond sunset
it's surface a fallen sky
where pink stars dance wild;
each perfumed with
love poems she'd recite
when Moon came down
calling her woman.

Beautiful. I need to spend a weekend catching up on all the great poetry I've missed by my favorites -- especially you. This piece is so strong in its substance, you know the subject well and it shows. I love the imagery and the ending is brilliant:
'each perfumed with
love poems she'd recite
when Moon came down
calling her woman.'
Great, great work.
Good luck in the contest.
