I fell in love
I never thought we'd make it this far
Down by the willow tree is where i said I do
where you promised you'd love me too
you promised me forever
and now down by the willow tree
is where I'm supposed to let go

i must bury the love of my life
this isn't forever, not what I envisioned
the soldier man folds up a flag
this piece of cloth is all i have left of my one true love
I wasn't ready to let go, why cant you just come back
the preacher-man says your soul learned all of its valuable lessons
what am i supposed to do without you
you took my heart along too
slowly they lower down
all i want to do is crawl in with you
and die too, so we can be together again
slowly the soldier men aim there guns
this is the last goodbye
as they slowly cover your casket with dirt
I stand here, with this unbearable hurt
down by the willow tree
is where you'll find my heart resting in peace
