I lie awake, wonder if you’ll call,
I know you won’t, I fight myself:
I falter.
I choke.
and I fall
into an agonized abyss.
"Never think of me and weep…"
Words smothering my sleep.
I close my eyes, try. See waking dreams:
Glory eyes. Honey voice and honey lips.
I fail.
I crash.
and I scream
my shredded soul in agony.
"Never think of me and cry…"
Words that say goodbye.
I surrender, a force I can't control
Absolved tears, a torrent inescapable.
I drown.
I flounder.
and I stumble
my dreams all thrown asunder.
"I am with you, I did not die."
Words cannot get me by.
I cry.

WOW
This is fantastic!!! I love it! Very well written, draws me in right away & pulls me, spell-bound, through. I love the flow & rhyme. They work together very well in this, free flowing & easily read. It also helps parts stand out. The variation & similarities between lines 7,8 & 15,16 make you take notice of both of those sections. I think this is really nice! It ends complete, yet leaves me wanting more.

very moving and heartfelt...displays a little sadness, but also gladness.
definitely a wonderful piece!!! -
OMG. This is so sad! Reminds of the end of Terri Irwin's book "Steve and Me" where she's talking about how she felt after Steve died, laying in her bed at night.

How very intensely sad this is!

Wow, this piece touches your reader's heart and soul and just makes one want to cry right along with you
Very deeply touching...well done!!!
