Drugs

holding out for something precious
holding out for love
holding out for more than this candy coated charade we're on

we dance around naked in the streets
we walk on our back porches and scream
we take our drugs to numb the pain
of hopelessness without a name

we take the drugs
to numb the pain
to hear the voices we wish would say

we take the drugs
because it's real
it's feeling
a gap that won't be filled
unless by love

This is exactly what addiction looks like when it starts. The streets will eat you alive.

  • This poem is AMAZING... it's like you've found the perfect words to explain why we do drugs.

a good poem - ah yeah it all comes down to love in the end, love drives us on through lie, to find happiness and if we don't have love we look for something else to breeze through the days.
