When your path gets hard,
And the ground is cold,
When you need a smile
And a hand to hold--
Look into the impenetrable darkness
Gaze upon my form,
Shaped ever by my love of you
A soul that shall not scorn.
When you need to let it loose,
To rock back and forth and cry,
When you need someone to hug you
Stare boldly into the night--
See me standing there
With my arms open wide.
Let me embrace you, hold you,
You do not have to hide.
When the world has turned against you,
And you shed those tears of doubt,
When no one seems there at all,
Just turn to me and shout--
I will open my arms, my heart, my soul,
And you'll see me there in the dark,
Your angel, if there ever was one,
The beacon with the heart.
