To the press

Tears may fall
When death arrives
And printed words spread their lies
With every breath we heed the call
To march through the burning sand
Shoulder to shoulder, man to man

Attacks we halt
Lives we save
Still you paint us as the knave
To those who’ve died you’ve sorrows wrought
You belittle sacrifice
Is freedom not worth the price?

Yes we dream we dream of better things
We want a live of peaceful means
To never have to fight off fiends
To never feel the lonely pangs
That plagues us day and plagues us night
Yet we know for what we fight

The American dream in our hearts beat
Of freedom, of equality and even world peace
We are here to make the terrorists cease
Which is not an easy feat
Yet still we come, we soldiers few
To make the world a better hew

    welcome to all poetry

Very well said, our soldiers sacrifice so much and are taken for granted. I do think you have a typo, believe it should be hue in that last stanza. Great poem.
