Broken hands
And eyes like coals
on leather cheeks
and tarnished souls
The sounds of sorrow
escape thier lips
as grandchildren they balance
upon thier hips
Rememberence,
of days gone by
old loves, friendships,
a whispered sigh
And in his heart
he holds her still
Though his old arms,
they never will
Regret in his heart
why didn't he know?
She had the strength
to let him go
She holds his hand
in all of her dreams
Those moments are lost
or so it seems...
The smiles, the laughs
the tears, the pain,
Through the fog of years
they all seem the same
They look in whispers
into these dreams
and pull away
in silent screams
He did her wrong
he knows that now,
He'd make it right
but he doesn't know how
Broken hands
and eyes like ash
If only he'd seen it
before the crash
And in his heart
he holds her still
Though he knows
his arms never will.
Please tell me what you think

I love this story of the tragedies in a long relationship. The last verse took me by surprise.
There are a couple of words in need of spellcheck. Hope you don't mind my noticing.
Lovely write.
