At the Slave Market.
If you have a lazy afternoon with nothing much to do
and you’re not inclined to spend it at the museum or the zoo,
I can tell you that you’ll nearly always find an easy park at
that very entertaining place - your neighbourhood slave-market.
At daily post-lunch auctions you can bid for any slave
who happens to appeal or whose accomplishments you crave.
The female slaves you buy are guaranteed to do for you,
amenably, most anything that you might want them to.
I don’t know about male slaves ‘coz I’ve never purchased one.
The females always seemed to me a better source of fun.
You can buy them any colour, white or yellow, brown or black
and, if unsatisfactory, they’ll always take them back!
I only bid for slaves I know I actually need
and make sure that Bills-of-Sale state: “Satisfaction guaranteed”.
Hugh Wyles, July 18th. 2009.
Author notes
Oil on canvas “The Slave market’ by Jean-Leon Gerome (1824-1904)
It’s wonderful to have a naked slave who calls you “Boss” -
if you haven’t bid quite high enough to win one – that’s your loss !

In fun, of course....
.....but it is worthwhile remembering that sex with a slave was rape, and, worse still, it still is. Apart from women being traded here in London, the Ant-Slavery Society reports on numerous countries where it is still rife. Many of the West African countries have it, whatever the law says, as does India, where there is much child-labour and forms of indenturing, whereby the land-workers can never get out of debt. Sorry to be such a spoil-sport. I'll go away now.

I guess that would be the dream of lots of men!
This poem has an amusing feel, and and easy flow as well, but that isn't anything new

Dear Hugh.
TG I can have my laptop in rehab.
I know you could do with a few slaves to help you look after Edna, so, are you going to buy some? Make sure they meet your needs too! And get some good looking ones.
Wonderful sonnet my dear friend, I'll read some more later.
Love Bea
