In his expression of his [Self],
Pretentious in his boastful ways,
But all and all in good health,
He claims,
"I am the pinnacle spirit,
My words are of no recourse!
I am the truly enlightened one!
I am hung like the horse!"
"Silly man" I say,
You do not need to appear cosmic to appeal to poetry,
It is certainly a related aspect,
But you mustn't appear so holy,
All you need is a love of words,
Of emotion,
Of nature,
Of the ruffled herds,
Of Buffalo,
Who probably sing like we do,
In the language of love,
That is in poetry too,
Love god,
Love allah,
Love no one in rue,
But at least realize that it is we who love you.
Author notes
I wrote this For my "authors page" or whatever, partially as a response to these many poets who make a boasting of their "Cosmic/Spiritual/Whole/Self-Actualized/True in Essence/Holy connection" With the Universe, because I found it quite funny that some feel a need to legitimize their poetry with some kind of "connection to the universe". I mean of course no offense to those who actually do write poetry with this connection, this is poem is to those who make a horse and pony show of it...
A bit satrical, but it comes from the heart, thoughts?

Satirical, yes,
pretentious, no,
but displaying
an intelectual love affair
with words---"emotion,
of nature."
The heart does indeed speak
from the author's page,
signifying what the
reader will find
within.

I like this-perfect for your page I think. The message is great, we all take ourselves a little bit too seriously at times. A nice refreshing read
