The Greatest Joy

The Greatest Joy
©copyright 2009 Bonita M Quesinberry

It is the nature of darkness when flesh feels lifeless,
pain knife sharp stabbing through my skull, then I saw my blood
smeared in crimson finger prints, though from where I knew not;
yet my senses heard angels' wings fluttering softly,
fanning a cool mist of rain upon my fevered brow.

I looked up to see rainbow colors in a blue sky.
It was then I saw Him and the pain instantly left,
fleeing from the brilliant light of a golden halo
shining greater than the sun upon His snow white hair.
Then He said so gently, "Sweet soul, you have done as asked.

"Thus, God says your job is done. It is time to come home
where there are mansions and I forever in heaven.
Your Father, brothers and sisters whom you love, your pets
and all beloved animals, each await you there."
JOY, oh the greatest JOY! My husband has come for me!

This was a great poem, your words just flowed and if you did not do those in the word bank in bold, I might not have found them. I love the hope your poem gives. Thank you very much for this in my contest.

    Beautiful.

I long for that day when he comes for me as well. On Wedsneday, we lost a young veterinarian when she was killed by a horse's kick. 27 and she has two children. But I am sure that she knew the Lord and is now there helping with all the animals.
