missing

"No!" Screamed the girl,
But no one cared, or listened

She fought hard and tried.

Her parents, just a few feet away,
continued window shopping.
Finally, they stopped looking.
They turned around,
and couldn't find their little girl.
They yelled out her name,
and people turned.

A silence followed

that haunted them.

Everyone's life

was forever changed.

The only thing that remains
is memories of just a few minutes ago -
When she whispered,
"I wish that I could swing or fly away."

    Good Gosh

From the first line I was hooked and just wanted to cry -
how sad it is that parents don't seem to notice when something like this happens; and your line of

    "Everyone's life
was forever changed." -- is so damn true. No one understands the consequences til it happens to them Startling and stunning write!

    Congratulations on the HM

    Stay safe

This is more a story to me than a poem.

    It needs a little tightening.

    example:

    "No!!" she screamed
    But no one heard
    She fought against gravity
    Feet glued to pavement

Her parents just a few feet away
    continued window shopping

    They turned around
    And she was gone

    The only thing that remained
    Were remnants of whispers
Her intent to swing or fly away

    Good luck!
