She comes for a showdown
She ain’t gonna let down
This place gonna shutdown
Tonight (Repeat x3)
She tells me to shut up
She ain’t gonna put up
This place gonna blow up
Right down from the core
I tell her I love her
I say I adore her
Always wanna hold her
(Spoken) Needless to say, that didn’t go over to well
[Chorus pt 1]
Every time I see your face
I wish I were in his place
Every time I hear your voice
I wish that I had a choice
(Repeat)
[Chorus pt 2]
Bittersweet poison
Bittersweet poison
Stings and soothes and
Drives away the blues
Drinking my dear bittersweet poison
[Verse 2]
My love is a poison
Your hate is the reason
Distance is the ransom
For the antidote my body
Seems to think it needs
I think you can cure me
I think you can save me
I think you can love me
If you forget the past
We can make it last
The pain isn’t that bad
Being close makes me glad
But it still makes me sad
(Spoken) Anyone got painkillers for this heartache?
[Chorus]
[Guitar solo]
[Bridge]
Even if you never love me
Keep away the antidote
Even if you still despise me
Please let me stay close
Even if you love him more than
You hate being next to me
Do not take away this poison
Please don’t set me free
[Chorus pt 1]
[Chorus pt 1 and 2 overlapping]
[Outro]
Drinking my dear bittersweet poison (Repeat x3)
Author notes
...Wow. It's been a while since I've been on this website. I wrote this song about six weeks ago, when I was in China, and I was rereading it today, and I realized that I never uploaded it. Then I realized I haven't been doing anything poetic in ages. I hope that changes soon.
Anyway, about the song. It's not about me. Lately I've been thinking about writing a series of songs from a completely different perspective from my own. After all, fiction writers rarely write from their own perspective. Even if they insert themselves into the story, the story-selves are rarely true depictions of the author unless they are minor characters.
So...why not songs too? No one ever said poetry has to be personal. (Okay, lots of people have said that. But no one who counted. >:3)
In fact, I've been trying to write a story about musicians (it hasn't taken off yet, but I'm still trying), and I'll need to write at least a few songs for them anyway. Those guys wouldn't be writing songs about ME, they'd be writing about THEMSELVES. See where I'm going with this?
I'll mostly go with songs I've already written, actually, but plot-significant songs will of course be especially written. I've already started a love song from one character to another.

You know this has the internal voice of the author. As a fellow musician, I have this as well and understand. The title's great and edgy as needed for such a topic. Good for you.
I would perform this on Utube so that others can get a true sound and degree of quality.
Otherwise, it is a touch one to critique!
Thank you for sharing...Warmly, CookieZeal

I've been lax with composing recently, which is a bit silly for Bittersweet Poison because the song is based off of a bass guitar riff. Don't worry, I've wanted to get my hands dirty with composing again, so you'll probably see the musical portion of the show soon.
