My daughter comes home from school
crying as if her heart would break.
"What is wrong Baby" I ask her,
expecting a bully or a bad grade.
Whimpering like a puppy, she asks
"Mommy, you know I love you, right?"
"Of course I do" I chuckle
"why would you ask such a thing?"
"Well, today is Mother's Day,
and I have nothing to give you.
Bobby says if I don't give you something,
you'll think I don't love you."
I stand there holding her as she cries,
shocked that children can be so cruel.
"Well, if that is the case,
I am loved more than any other Mommy."
"Huh?" she says between sniffles.
"You give me all kinds of things;
hugs, kisses,
smiles and wishes.
Every time you give one of these things,
I know I am loved.
So tomorrow when you see Bobby,
you tell him you gave your mommy
the best gift of all."
"What's that?"
I hug her tightly
as I whisper
"Your love".

How very sweet!
The best thing any parent could ever ask for from their children is their love...
