[ Concrete facade and pebble dash, ]

Concrete facade and pebble dash,
Clammy against our backs,
A siren calls for another crash
Through the streets that I call mine

I snuggle into your duffle coat,
While drizzle hangs on the air,
Because for just this moment
I'm the girl being hugged by the bear

You taste like fags and coffee
It's black and white for you
But all the smoke and wine in the world
Could never make it true

The ice cream van wails hopefully
As we drink Polish beer in the rain,
But there's not time for Mr. Whippy
When you're going back to Cardiff on the train

The fish and chip shops open
As we both pretend we won't go home,
You take pictures of the two of us
But she's still the background on your phone

You taste like fags and coffee
It's black and white for you
But for all the smoke and wine in the world
You don't know how to make it true

We trudge along the slippy pavement,
I ran down the promenade to greet you,
But now my umbrella's broken
And it always rains when I meet you.

Author notes

Goodness me, this is an oldish poem I found in the dregs under my bed, from about February or so?

It won't mean much to many others but I thought I'd post it anyway.

Title suggestions are VERY welcome :]
