The English Weather

The English weather's really not my friend
At cricket there was rain before the end
The day before and then today the sun was high and hot
But in between the weather went to pot

The English weather never gets it right
I slave away throughout the heatwave's height
And then I get a day or two to live my life my way
And overhead the skies are cold and grey

The English weather treats we English wrong
She gives us gifts to string us all along
And then we take the trouble to enjoy her finest treat
And sit and watch a snowscape turn to sleet

The English weather knows a balmy breeze
That ruffles brand new leaflets in the trees
But when you think of kiting then the breeze becomes a gale
And pretty April showers will turn to hail

The English weather never tells it true
The forecast rain may not arrive on cue
On days you thought you'd huddle in a kagoule getting wet
You sunbathe in a London park the finest summer yet!

At least we're in for a good weekend and you did get to see some cricket!

We all love the weather in Britain ... it gives us something to talk about!

    Nice one

    Oh, very true.
The snow verse is particularly accurate. Two years ago, I think it was, they said 'everyone in Britain will see a white Christmas'. The whitest part of my garden was my disappointed face

Christmas day the weather forecast can be read as such
windy in high places ,maybe some sun,not much
a little hail expected with a gentle fall of snow
dry in spots, some drizzle, and gale-force winds will blow
all in all a normal day, tomorrow's much the same
except in North of England who will have a hurricane

    Obstinate Weather!

I wish you the weather of your desire (all the time). It wouldn't surprise me if you figured out how to control the weather!

Have they not sorted out a way to cover the ground in a cricket match yet?

Yep this summer is a washout, you must have blinked back in May and missed it
