fixed

I thought I heard
     a splash of twilight
drip from the lace curtain

then I realised
as your eyes were still
                           fixed

I must have been mistaken

shadows raised their arms
with me
and appeared to dance
         along the corners
                of the room

yet you remained static

softness of sunrise
yawned like hot red
                 and blue

with panicked melodies
and the stench of
disinfectant

still
you didn’t even blink

Author notes

I started with the prompts but ended up in a field in the middle of nowhere.
I hope this isn't too distant from the prompts because it was thinking about them that made me write this. if that's not a good enough excuse, can I blame the fact I'm ill?

Pandiculation

stretching and yawning before going to bed
