What's it like to have a cold heart
having no natural affection at all
besides that of self-interest?
Someone having no natural affection
is a person who would speak scornfully
of the kindness and goodness of another
and always looks for falseness in the other,
proclaiming that no one could ever be capable
of having a good and decent conscience.
What is it like for you
who live this pitiful life?
I'm so sorry for you.
What did you think

Leave it to the poetic heart to take a good concept and tear it apart. While I wouldn't go so far as to say that this offering bad, I can say that it contains little of the specific pessimist. Your writing here is a scientific dissection conducted in the abstract. I guess there is no reason not to give you kudos for that, but I find the writing here to be far too on the nose for my personal tastes.
But, if I set subjectivity aside, I think I can conclude that, objectively, you make a solid point that I can only imagine is inspired by over-exposure to those saying it can't be done.
