frost

bound by pale frigid eyes
stone to stone
skin to bone
trapped in the ice-green glare of
chill winter's kiss

words fall from my lips like ice
shivering, glinting of fear
like the depths of the river
trapping the thoughts of man
beneath a smooth killing glass

words might make me, might break me
love to hate
adoration into night's embrace
to fall lifeless and drained on the sand
like the bitter husks of flowers

perfectly preserved
my words shatter, icicles fallen
from the sweeping expanse of frosted trees
bound brightly into crystals
and sworn into arctic secrets

and i choke back my words
and utter the lies you want to hear

and hope that spring comes soon

Author notes

I feel like a fly in amber lately, thanks to an ice-eyed girl who seems to posses the ability to make me trip over my own words, my own actions...

Be honest, but don't be rude! What do you think?

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!

I like this a lot: it's based on a really good analogy, the flow is nice and I especially like some of the ice imagery like...
"like the depths of the river
    trapping the thoughts of man
    beneath a smooth killing glass"
    Good write!
~ I hope your spring comes round soon and her with it
