Through the Years

The thoughts that I have
The feelings inside
Frustrations and pain
Some things that I hide.

The loves I have lost
Some things left untold
If you look closely
The stories unfold.

I am only human
Please don't think me a saint
I have loved and lost
Sometimes I am full of hate.

I have lots of friends
Some young and some old
But no one knows the real me
Or the secrets I hold.

For all the good and
All of the bad
The life I have led
I am not always so sad.

I have laughed and loved
Given my heart a time or two
Felt cherished and blessed
Even by You.

Please don't think I'm weak
When I say what is in my heart
You've inspired me in many ways
Right from the start.

So Thank You for all
You have been to me
A friend and a mentor
Your priceless as can be.

My life has been a mess
As you can see
But I thank God
You've been there for me.

So whenever you're down
Or just feeling blue
Just remember one thing
God and I are there for you.

Just remember the adage
"You've got a friend in me!"
I'll be there for you
As you've been there for me.

So once again
My story unfolds
My feelings in tact
For you, my heart grows.

Thanks again
for being you
I couldn't have made it
All the way through.

The laughter, the pain
The tears we've shed
Are the life
That each of us have led.

I just want to say
Thanks for being you
For everything I have
Nothing compares to you

    I love the ending! and not cuz its in the end of the poem but because it just wraps up the whole poem without leaving a dead end i love your poetry you are definatly ( i cant spell!) a very amazing writer mommy i hope some day with enough practice to be just as good as you. You're words flow amazingly. you're awesome mom i love it and i love u

    Thank You for Your entry: Through the Years
    This piece tugged hard at Spirit and after reading several times ~
    I'm Honored also Humbled You took the time to pen for my contest
    You took the prompt and brought forth much for the Mind to feast upon~
    Bravo!! When I digest words written, images come through that grab hard~
    Woven Strengths: While digesting Your words...I kept being shown like
    a Sham Wow...but the focus seems to be on the product and what it can do
    and then I am shown phrase: mountain of tears...and the Sham Wow able
    to clean up the liquid...not leaving a drop left Whether Metaphor or literal
    Strange I know
    I am shown paper folded and made into this Heart shape where it appears
    to be a string of Hearts...paper Hearts cut out but connected if that makes
    sense
    I'm shown phrase: Written Off..
    However that is to be Interpreted
    I keep being pulled to these lines~
    I am only human

    Interesting this is for I am shown from the movie: 28Days Later
    and reference to the word: Rage
    Affected with Rage... whether Metaphor or literal
    I am shown how the Anger needs to be talked down...
    like in 7 steps etc...a process
    Mention of phrase: So Healing can begin
    However that is to be Interpreted as well...
    Love the direction You took with this prompt
    Hopefully my comment to Your write makes sense
    Powerful verse and message You have brought forth

    These words grabbed and pulled~
