grey is the colour of desolate skies
about to empty sorrow.
too many people wear grey
veiled with smiles -
lie detector test worthy -
smiles.
why can't we all be clouds
and burst when it gets too dark inside?
I thank the heavens -
atmospheric pressure
has taught me it's okay to cry
and wear sunshine and rainbows
when my heart ceases its heaviness.
Author notes
My guilty pleasure song is Michael Jackson - Black or White
Do I even have to link it? Everyone knows this song, yes?
The title line came from the section of rap in the song.

something about that line that really captured me--
it might be interesting to pluck that line sometime and try to use it as a statement rather than question.. although it works fine here as a question.. just thinking how you could play with such a great line..
some soft, sweet thoughts throughout..
thanks for entering..

I think the first two lines may be the strongest. I like the sentiment in this - let it out and free yourself for that lightness. Thank that atmospheric pressure...

I really enjoyed this poetic work. My favorite line was
"Why can't we all be like the clouds
And burts when it gets too dark inside"
Because it is good advice to let the pain and pressure out. Good luck in the contest.
