Evil words

Unwilling words rise to reluctant lips
My heart aches, cracking inside
From the shattered look in your eyes
And I want to snatch
At those wretched words
That have dragged forth these tears

Tears that rain upon me
Like drops of liquid fire
searing through flesh and bone
Your pain magnifies itself inside me
Until a wail rises from my lips
For no matter how tight I hold you
How much I want to take it back

It still remains a heart breaking fact
I simply cannot do it
