Tracing Corridors of Mystic Flight

Fragile one emerges from palpable cocoon
into illusionary purple mist
Tracing paper wings threaded with silk skein veins
stretch to caress air's molecules,
an embryonic embrace, clumsy and clean

Early morning's waterfall of life
greets startled innocence
with fresh dew drop spray
Winged creature alights onto
grandfather oak's gnarled limbs
to hear a rhapsody of old
Of men, of hope and bleeding:

Human creatures with distorted wires
and fractured signals
tore at each other's existences
Vampiric notions of drawing
the bone marrow of others
in order to satiate black hole hunger

All was not lost for One arose
who wore symbols in focused eyes
Teaching unity and melded race
he poured out his nectar being,
offering sustenance to starving race

From open palm sprang dancing fire,
blazing love and empathy
The sparks now spread from soul to soul
igniting white hot pulsing Word
so lips were opened, stiff tongues freed
Fingers touched and wounded eyes met

The enthralled moth silently absorbs the tale
and rubs one little leg along oak's bark
With wonder and an open heart
she's drawn into life's brief span...

My dear friend Georgia, this is a stunning work of art. You have painted a masterpiece with your words. Your metaphors gave me much to sit and ponder over. I have read your poem several times and with each reading the color in your words became even brighter. The cycle of life embodies both good and evil and both are necessary to maintain balance in the universe. Just as you maintained balance within these wonderful words of wisdom.
Thank you so much for entering my contest.

Oh my friend, it has been far too long since I have read from your talented pen. This is stunning work of art my friend. A wonderful take on the prompt with a great sit and ponder effect. Loved it!

  • Aslan this is simply amazing......I think this goes amazingly well with the theme of the contest as well as the picture prompt. I love how you tied it all into the funeral and the minister soothing the souls of those who are mourning. At least that is how I took this piece to mean with what you were writing. So beautiful how you tied the beggining life span of the moth into all of this.
