Sizeable Appetite

I’ve been waiting for a friend
at the Bagdad Café.
as I munch upon
burnt blackberry pie,
a nimble white fly
nibbles nonchalantly
on my favourite dessert.
like an animal filled with
with gluttony and greed
it ate my special treat
till it became
grounded for good.

This once simply fly
had became as huge
and heavy as
a bowling ball.

To relieve it’s pressure,
I pull the fly’s dart out
of it’s body
and observed it
twirl,spin and flip
in one last glory
while spraying chunks
of blackberry
in my once
flawless face.

OH MY GOSH... I love this poem. I can see it in my imagination and it is like watching a cartoon film. May I please post it on Poetry Planet? Love the ending, especially. HOOT! YAY!

  • Well, that certainly is one way to say "back at ya! " Imagery is superb in this and left me uneasy as intended.

    Wow. Well done. ~Pamela
