Why?

Why do people have kids

if not to show them love

why do they not show them

with a cuddle or a hug.

 

Why do they just leave them

to be raised in the street

when a child without love

will always feel uncomplete.

 

Why do they abuse them

with harsh words or a slap

leaving them to understand

why in life they feel a gap.

 

 

Why do kids step back

when people come so close 

Because their parents are so cold

and love to them is a ghost.

    The last stanza is very powerful. The entire poem is wonderfully done and conveys a wonderful meaning. I've witnessed and experienced this type of thing my entire life, parents who have better things to do than care for their children, who only show love, attentions, and affection when it suites them... its a tragedy and I see no end to it in the near future. That's why I won't have children, I don't know how to show love and I won't put my kids though what I went through. Thank you for entering my contest and good luck.

    So true, and in my profession, I see alot of this negative and inept parenting, which in my opinion, is a generational curse that is simply allowed to proliferate unchecked in many cases.

      sadly I don't have to be in your profession to see this type of thing go on. But it must be alwful for you, i couldn't do this for a living. Some parents don't deserve to have this title.
