American Dream!
we see the white picket fences,
sports cars and two story houses.
wishing it was all ours,
knowing one day it could be.
this is the american dream.
but we only see what it appears to be.
we fail to see what lies beneath.
tears have shed,
scars have shown.
a family lost, through all the rich and fame.
one mother dying with no love from her own children.
one father with no time to notice.
to everyone else their life seems 'perfect'
but the truth is, its hell in disguise.
they wear smiles walking down the street,
but only wear masks of pain, sitting in their own living room.
pushing away what life they use to have,
throwing away what kept them alive.
they slowly fall, deeper and deeper within their money,
only to lose sight of what they truly wanted.
there is no love left to express to others in their world.
all they think about is their next buy.
but with one mistake, everything is lost,
their house put up for rent,
their car towed away,
and their money?
just disappeared, taken from their hands right before their own eyes.
but this is STILL the american dream!
we fight to just be noticed,
and we see people beg for simple coins to be placed in their pockets.
i say keep the coins, i want change.
i want to change the american dream,
to the want of love, not money
I want people to be able to smile and say everything is gonna be ok,
even when their not sure if it is.
my american dream,
is simply to have a family, whose not afraid to show how much they care.
my american dream,
is that i have a chance to be what i want to be,
and thats not rich and famous,
its to be an individual living life as it comes.
