Fake Mirror

You stare at the reflection in the mirror
In eyeliner you write ugly across your forehead
All I can do is sit on the counter and sigh
Take my sleeve and rub your face clean

You stare at the number on the scale
Deciding to skip all meals and go for a run
All I can do is watch you run with a sigh
Take you in my arms and call you perfect

You look at the models in the magazines
Declaring you wish you looked like them
All I can do is sit on your bed and sigh
Take the magazine and rip it to shreds

You watch the skinny girls at school
Whispering you want to be like them
All I can do is stand there and sigh
Take their masks off and point it out

You listen to her call you fat and ugly
That voice inside your own mind
All I can do is watch you fight and sigh
Take the fake mirror and shatter it

A good poem written for someone who seems to be lost in the in-perfection that is our society today. Nothing is what it seems, and most things are built on lies. Let your friend know, that those Models who dont eat eventually suffer career blows when arthritis sets in and they cant walk down the cat walk at the age of 25.

    Good Write.
