Trials and Tribulations Of A Confessed Bulletin Board User

I think I’d rather have bamboo shoots
Shoved under my fingernails,
Then partake in the bulletin board
And certain topics they entail.

Sometimes though I can’t help myself,
And I leave my personal thoughts.
Only to be told that they are wrong,
(More often times than not)

A posted link with a copied text,
The topics are treated so serious.
Who cares if PETA gets a tax break?
Are some of these people delirious?

Sexist men will tell me I’m wrong,
While others accept my views.
Catty women will look down their nose.
Do they think I don’t read the news?

Opinions vary, oh yes they do.
But will some accept this fact?
I disagree with friends on there,
But I do not go on the attack.

Well, sometimes I do snap back,
I have admitted that all along.
Never ask for my opinion....
Then tell me I am wrong.

Author notes

I found this poem on a disk I had.  It was written last November, but I added the PETA reference today    This is not directed at anyone , just the topics in particular.

ROTFL!! Oh yeah! Ain't that the truth, though? 'Opinions are like armpits, everyone has a couple' (cleaned up version )
Don't want an honest answer? Then don't ask! I dunno why that's so difficult to 'get'.

Very well written, Barb, and great last line!

Ooh, I love this backgound too...May I swipe it? (at least I ask )

    for Peta

Yes - your poem explains all - the internet really does bring out lots of 'half' people - perhaps distance is there to keep people apart (as an aside: I was once abused for making rude remarks referring to Peta - I glad I am not alone) - nice read thank you.

people should know that if they ask my opinion, they're gonna get the honest truth and not be shocked if i don't agree with them, and that's all i gotta say about that *forrest gump voice*

    you tell 'em!

I haven't been to the bulletin boards in months...now I remember why.

Great poem, nice understated humor. There will probably be some paranoid person who reads themself in this and will throw a snit.
(This PETA thing has me intrigued....dare I venture onto the boards once again?)
