I shudder to think
that maybe
you might actually be
who you've always said you were.
who all the pictures solidify
into a vague reality as
actually there.
that I have been so skeptical
of what I've been given that
I never even saw you.

I like this piece because it reflects our perceptions of people, and how they can change as we observe more. sometimes we see things that we somehow missed before.

i just want to smile all over this. and it has nothing to do with that gold that adorns this.
but i AM really pleased to see that, too.
each line, i honestly smiled more. i see the beginning of trust, opening up... just a bit. i see the vulneralbility of doing that, i feel the ache of wanting, and the hope of believing.
and your ending... well, it is so strong. it is like i want to embrace this whole poem.
