A Lodge Chaplain’s Prayer. Wyleian Sonnet CCLVIII
God grant me the SERENITY to accept things I can’t change,
the FORTITUDE to change the things I can
and the ACUMEN to know the difference, so to rearrange
my life and thus become a better man.
God cleanse my heart of envy, greed and covetous desire
absolve me from hostility and hate;
imbue my spirit with the flame of Thy celestial fire
that I may walk the path to Heaven’s gate.
May God’s Word, through my spirit reaching, spread from me to others
and, through Masonic teaching’s sound precepts,
so guide me all my living days and elevate my brothers
to keep established ways and right concepts.
However long or short my life, I pray that, at it’s end,
those who live after me will say: “He was a trusty friend.”

Based on the prayer:
“GOD grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change,
The COURAGE to change the things I can
And the WISDOM to know the difference.……”

Dear Hugh,
I echo M-C's comment...You are a trusty friend, a gifted poet, a teller of truth, a historian extraordinaire! I pray that you may remain in this domain for a VERY LONG time!!! Amen!
