Scream child
as you take your first breath
they have welcomed you here
with banners bearing names, balloons and cakes
you will only know through pictures they’ve taken
of you
wearing nothing but your mother’s blood
eyes barely opened
no pigment yet defining them
or you
Scream
because your eyes are your ticket to this one-way world
and you had no say
what color
what shape, size, distance apart, location on the face
you have not chosen
what is to be seen
there are two gods, not one
the sperm and the egg
God would be laughing
if he Only existed
Scream
with all your little life,
a gift, they say,
you can’t return
Scream the same
with your final breath
you’re not going back
but leaving behind
more banners, more cakes
a funeral pyre
this human waste
the human race
the human way
a life, they say,
we should desire
but why, oh why do we always scream?
