Sleep refuses to come
as the living nightmares
seep into her being
uninvited.
She wishes upon
the warm night sky
for things she knows
can only happen in her dreams.
Within a year,
she hopes to earn freedom
from the choices she
doesn’t get to make.
This next month,
she wants to be allowed
a new start with everyone
she ignorantly condemned.
Tomorrow
she’ll settle with pain.
But tonight,
she only begs for sleep.
Oh precious dreamer,
sleep won’t rescue you tonight.
Author notes
I wrote this last night when I couldn't fall asleep. Could you tell?

I thought it was great
You penned this with cuh a view of one so begging for sleep to reach the dream realm where magic still exists

AMAZING.
Almost everyone I know could relate to this poem
my favorite stanza was
"Within a year,
she hopes to earn freedom
from the choices she
doesn’t get to make."
I can think of nothing to make this poem better.
