Cobwebs

Look around in the darkness
All I could see were cobwebs and cadavers
Lights flicker on; the bodies move with unrest
Speaking of death and despair, as if they were palavers

Some may attempt scansion
But it will be blurred by swirling ebony feathers
And hearts beating below in the mansion
Stay out in the frigid, gloomy weather

From the pen flows the story
Like ink running through my veins
The black blood threatening to overflow
Raging in my mind as I watch my glory
From somewhere above, where I ignore the pains
They will never know what happened before I had to go

Looking back at every single creation
Observing the terror they bring
I hear the readers’ screams; it gives me elation
And, in my mind, bells ring

Watch me disappear
For a little while
Please ignore my fear
I have lost the ability to beguile

Nothing can stop this malady
Not when they found me in a gutter
All I ask is, please, do not try to console
These final days, forever shrouded by the masque of mystery
Those cobwebs cling to my brain as I scarcely utter
“Lord, help my poor soul.”
