Before I go out tonight
to the tides that reak of danger,
I want to kneel before this moon
to pray to gods that I have treated as strangers.
Oh deity of luck...
I ask of you
to guide me through
the sea older than the ages,
to find what I'm looking for,
whether silver or gold,
dust or bone,
coins and jewels from Captains throne,
whether it be here or there
or between sea and shore.
This is all I ask of you.
And if I receive
I shall ask of you no more.
Oh deity of courage...
Give me strength to draw my blade if I must,
whether it be revenge or defence,
let me slay with no need to repent.
Let mine enemies quake with fear
when I draw me sword from my side
and my pistol from my breast.
This is all I ask of you.
And if I receive
I shall ask of you no more.
Oh deity of fate...
I know I cannot change thee,
but of you I only ask
that when the time comes for me
that you shall have pitty
and that you shall show mercy unto me.
This is all I ask of you.
And if I receive
I shall ask of you no more.
Oh deity of love...
Of you I ask a blessing
to watch over and protect
the one that I love
and not to neglect this task
that I have given you.
This is all I ask of you.
And if I receive
I shall ask of you no more.
Oh deity of Death,
oh Keeper of the sand.
When my hour glass has run dry
I ask of you
to leed me away
and give me peace within.
And if I receive
I shall go quietly
And leave this world for children and kin.
