Freedom's Fighters

We fight for your freedom.
We stand firm, to serve and protect.
We got your back.

We have no peace.
We always have to be on guard.
You think you have problems at home,
But the things we face and endure
Far exceed your worst nightmares.
When many weaker people would have
Long ago fallen into despair,
We prevail.
We fight on.
We got your back.

The pain of leaving our families at home,
And going off to face the great unknown,
Sends a chill throughout our bodies.
We are human too-we have fears.
But we are strong.
Our fears never take hold of us completely.
When we are afraid, we are at our best.
All it takes to pull us through
Are thoughts of our loved ones back home.
You give us the strength to carry on
And accomplish the things we need to do.
We never stop to think about the consequences for ourselves,
All we think about is you.
We got your back.

We form strong friendships.
We show love and compassion for each other.
Our friends and companions,
Facing the same things we do day after day,
Never give up.
We are always watching out for each other.
Divided we would fall,
But united we stand.
No one can take us down.
We give up our lives for each other.
We got your back.

We are trained as the very best.
We obey orders without question,
And do our very best in everything.
If needed, we will give the ultimate sacrifice,
So that you and your loved ones won't need to
And so that you can live your lives in peace.
We got your back.

We fight for your freedom.
We stand firm, to serve and protect.
We got your back.

Author notes

I know that this poem is kind of long, but I have a very high respect for all of the branches of our military and once I got started I had a hard time stopping. Thank you to all of our armed forces.

Thanks for your entry. Well done.

  • Very beautiful write. You should look up the song Red White & Blue by Brian McKnight and Rascall Flats, that's really what this reminded me of. Great write!

Very, very good. I love it. Living below the poverty line and forgoing much beter jobs to serve your country is hard enough. Then leaving your home and loveones to go some place and put your life on the line. So many people don't even think of what a service man gives up just to watch your back.

I don't think it really matters how long it is. I think you have a wonderful tribute here to all branches of the military. I like your repetition as well. You have done a wonderful job embodying what this men and women do for their country. Beautiful job.

    Never give up
