Traversing over these hills, each taller than the last
My eyes are wide open, with nothing to gaze upon.
I've felt like my sight suddenly left me hanging.
Without you, I'd rather not see.
This road keeps on winding towards destinations unseen.
I can only hope and wish for you to walk with me,
Wherever we may arrive.
I wish to be able to share the moment with you.
Open fields and stretching plains are what I see.
Scattered trees, soaring birds enjoying the summer sky.
The journey to the Heavens, those trees and those those birds.
Together we'll reach for it, forever.
Planes and trains and boats and cars are well and good,
But walking down these paths with you means the world.
Sharing the air I breathe, and seeing the sun you see,
Connects us in our souls, and in this reality.
Over these great hills, not nearly as bad with you,
I turn to my side, my eyes wide, and gaze upon my heart.
My sight has returned and all I see is you.
Without my heart, the world could never matter.
Author notes
