You temporarily had the power
When I thought the grass was greener
Beyond the fence it was apparent
The grass was so much meaner
You temporarily had the power
when you tore at my top
You ignored my trembling hands
My pleas for you to stop.
You temporarily had the power
When everyday actions were blocked
Or when I could not sleep
Without making sure the door was locked.
Things have changed with time
I now need you to see
You could have had my heart
For you, I’ll never be
Mine is the Power
When you thought my heart was true
You have made it cold from hurting
It will never beat for you
Mine is the Power
When I secretly reach out
Not to love you but to find
What your crime was all about.
Mine is the Power
And, so farewell to thee
You will tremble in my wake
My soul does so much flee
Mine is the Power.

And all I could ever add is More Power to you, for freedom is the way!
Excellent message and flow to this little poem you know.
I like it, I like it so!
