As Elusive As...

A fat little bug with furry woolly- like hair
with many legs, that wiggles almost everywhere
short lived as it hides’ away in a sheath -like cocoon of silk
awaiting transformation into something amazing that fly’s

Colors of bright orange, brown, black, and a touch of blue
small antenna's that guide him from flower to leaf
with two large wings of silken smooth fabric as it flutters to and fro
beauty has been created with such precision and detail it's almost unreal

His name denotes a ruler or sometimes considered royalty
you see him mostly in perpetual motion as seldom does he alight
in his natural state, his demeanor is one of elusiveness
No longer that bug with a hundred legs now known as Monarch Butterfly!

Author notes

Today, one did alight upon the sunflower I held in my hand.It sat there for the longest time simply resting its body from a tiring afternoon fluttering around my yard.
They are truly beautiful when viewed up close.Too bad they can't talk I'd like to have known from where he came.Who I am
