you try to cut me down
at the knees
and make me unable to walk
shove your fist down my throat
so i cannot speak
tie my hands behind my back
and make me follow you
a hobbled horse
broken
with nothing left to give
you have whipped every bit of fight
and love out of me
it is a disgusting thing
for you to love me
i have to be a shadow
of the woman i was.

He should lift you up high above, help you run like the wind, cherish your every word like diamonds, free you to walk proud at his side, caress strength and love into you that he might love the perfection in you so that you would shine brighter then anyone else in the room.
This is so well written and far too often true. Of course the need to dominate is rooted in feelings of insecurity and fear and treating a loved on this way is a sure sign of an inadequate personality.
You have captured the feelings of helplessness very well and I hope others may read this and be inspired to write for themselves.
