An Experience (left me in thought)

( 01-Aug-2009 )

This afternoon, coming home from Stockbridge down I-75, I was doing
my usual site-seeing because mama was driving today. I went to glance
over at Northbound and it was like I went into another world.

There was a whole unit of Army soldiers, jeep-cargo-medical trucks, buses
of soldiers, all being surrounded by cops so no traffic could interfere.

As I saw each roll by, it felt like slow motion. Everything around me,
literally, was silent. I couldn't help but to sit there and think "one day,
those will be my people in their military."

Obviously, all along, I've been thinkin on the day (it'll vary with each
person, of course) when the ones I care about will be deployed, and
how much I would miss them. But for some reason today, something
hit me...

I really can't fully explain it.
Guess that's a "good" thing.. one of those,
the best emotion is unexplainable.

The lives who are serving our country should be given the respect
that each deserve. I know the one's that Im acquainted with are ALL
in my heart, not more than another, but as one.

Today's experienced just left me in thought. I even told mama that
what I felt was different; not a disappointment, just different..

(with my heart,
I give My Friends [in all branches]
my love and hope wherever yall are stationed are staying safe)

  • Thanks for posting this here as well RJ!
The troops are what it's all about!

  • I like it

It has amazing imagery and a great message, the flow is kind of weird, but its good for this form

  • It great when I hear about people supporting the troops! My son is coming home for good in about 11 days. He did 6 years in the ARMY and it's his time to come home. This is so awesome of you to bring this subject to light, and just to stop and think of those that are serving all of us, even those not in support. Sort of like Jesus. Great write RJ!
