Pinned Down With Plywood And Politics

We rode camel hair to nowhere
on our engagement to pavement.

Swayed between homegrown debt.
Took bets on backs of our future,
the crash of '07 like Springsteen's
Growin' up and The River.

Steel on dust cloud down dirt trails,
miss a deer try to steer while I swerve.

"That boss has a lot of crotch, got me
workin' with the moths because he knew
rent was due and Im dumb but no fool."

Truck drivin', psycho analizin' pin on smiles.
When church crowd files my miles in heads,
they passed the bread.

Dunk on friday, my way,
then repent, rinse , repeat, ready for sabbath.
I scratch out mine but they got a front row seat.

Pencil makes for them to dine on my whine,
but sympathy is not a thing I wanted for mine.
So it seems I sing for the poor not proper,
and the down knocked soon kickin' rocks.

In town they look in books, but I know
my children will know God
better than a snob.

A nod to the down trod.

Author notes

had to break the lines up to slow it down.

I particularly liked the opening line. The flow reminds me of kerouac. Sort of road poem feel. Nice one.

amazing thats all i gotta say can't say much about this cuz i thought it was really good the part about the boss is really sad though just cuz i would never like to see someone go out of unnessacary means to pay rent but i guess when the rent is due you gotta do what you need to do to make the due
