is gold and
far away like
a poem i read once
when i was singing a song
i still doodle names
in my notebooks
curling letters in
the margins,
sliding them together and
rending them apart
curves and dips and loops
are hers,
beautiful, sensual, warm
leaning on
my notes i took
while thinking of him;
so far away from what
i could ever be
mine is
a harsh wigwam of a name
pointed and solitary
and strong;
a stronghold, a fortress
where craftsmen learn their trade
but still my name
is silver on his lips
and far away is hers
from what i could ever be.
Author notes
sort of stream-of-consciousness thing.
