on waking she was undiscovered,
again
limbs and frail edges all the same,
torn song fallen through the seams between sheets
while an empty house, less tangible than its skin,
drifted to sit with old memories a while;
~
to bury each inconsolable grief
with the water drawn from the breathless bones,
the sharp ones, the hidden ones, broken between her eye
and her trust-
with scars settled deep enough to care
less than she would
where all that once mattered most, matters not-
the stain still there
hung with its burnished edges blue, in neon
but all consequence lost
in the smell of looking forward

You blow my mind, always, dare I say there is an advantage to you writing not as much as of lately, it means there isn't too much for me to catch up on. However I do believe you have one of the most powerful and beautiful voices on AP, you gift things with such delicacy and rawness but the feel just vibrates. I love it.

grief settles silent
beneath intangible skin
sits quiet
undisturbed until memory
prods a bruise
you would rather ignore
-
this is really good work... not sure about the parenthetical bit but the poem is so strong either way and i love the close...

I am so pleased to see you posting again, my Friend. Good luck in Lea's contest, Sweetie. As always, a distinct pleasure.

I am not sure if the smell is the thing that makes us remember or the taint of it that sticks to your skin. I agree with Rowan, miss reading your words

I think I know that smell, really.
You have such a way with words,my friend, you should write here more often.
I miss your thoughts and talent.
