Inta-sex Me: A Public Announcement From Black Women

In response to
too many booty callers
with too little game;
too many, “what did you call me’s?”
‘cause a brother was
clueless that I even possessed a brain;
way too many shallow conversations
followed by, “forget you bitch,”
because I wouldn’t give
my number or name.
Excuse me... but,
if you can't inta-sex my intellect
and soul-seduce my being.
I have nothing here for you
'cause nothin' you have for me has meaning;
seeing as
little I have to offer
is within your realm of recognition.
Truth be told,
if all you see in me
is sexual
you really haven’t been listening.
My discipline, is the result
of my recognizing who I am...
divinely defined beyond
what you seek within my pants.
Yea man, I can dance!
I just don’t dance with fools
who by the way
I define as those
whose intellect can’t get past
their waistline.
Negro,
I don’t need you to
tell me I’m fine!
My divine  creator
told me I was fearfully
and wonderfully made.
My gender boasts names
like Nefertiti and Sojourner Truth;
Maya Angelou and Rosa Parks;
yet all you see  in me are
unachieved conquests
and for that you bring your best game of degradation
hidden under false compliments
and empty promises.
But the saddest part is
I was hoping you would
rise to the occasion,
but your kingdom,
sadly, lacks a king.
Perhaps next lifetime
you will recognize
the Queen in me
or more importantly,
the King I see...
in you.

    Great, enjoyed this perspective.

  • Speak poet, speak!
    "My discipline is the result of recognizing who I am"
    This line could be a poem unto itself.
    You've penned one heck of a piece of good solid truth here.
    BRAVO!!! Double bravo for being written by you, a brother.

    Great write John. These pearls of wisdom are hopefully not cast in vain.

    "My gender boasts names
    like Nefertiti and Sojourner Truth;
    Maya Angelou and Rosa Parks;
    yet all you see in me are
    unachieved conquests..."

    It's all about respect isn't it?
