Heartless

I can hear you from my room,
even if both our doors are closed.
Haven't you realized, I never dozed,
because the walls have voices too?

You can try to convince me that love exists,
but you can't while the resentment lingers,
and when that ring upon your finger,
is so easily dismissed.

Tell me, when did I become a cynic?
When did you become a preacher?
How'd this house become a teacher,
in the runnings of a clinic?

At what age, should I lose Innocence?
You still treat as if I'm a child,
but I'm old enough to see this mess you've complied,
and attest as a witness.

So, I guess,
if I'm given the quiz,
about our home; where they say the heart is,
I'll answer: we're heartless.

Well written, however you intend to extend or refine it. This shows exactly what you want, that it all is gone and nothing else but a facade remains. Well written Gems!

  • Indeed needs to flow better, I feel this piece could be alot better with some minor tweaking. If you do before contest close please let me know
    Thank you
