America's Castles

Missing image
Nostalgia flows gently into my mind,
an era of genteel softness, of golden sunsets,
children playing croquet on manicured lawns,
mother's drinking tea from porcelain cups..

Of mansions designed by artists,
built above the ocean's spray by expert craftsmen,
the castles of America still standing,
still full of ghostly laughter of the Gilded Age..

    You can't .....

.....beat nostalgia --- which some wit describes as being that which fills the gap between cradle and grave.

    Nice and brief

Woven Strengths: Very Interesting take on this image for when I digested-
I kept seeing image from this movie I believe was Valmont~
seemed the image is of Monsieur Valmont
The death in the end...I am shown Your words:
ghostly laughter of the Gilded Age...
    Also word: Prophetic...
    A Powerful image to see
    While reading again-
I am a countryside...but the rolling hills of
Emerald lay and a child running with a makeshift kite
trying to get it into the air
However this child is not of Life...
but died of the plague from the images shown yet the memory
of trying to fly something into the Heavens
with a trail of Innocent laughter...
    still haunts
