Cece’s Lullaby and Those Blue Flowers

Sing to me Cece’s lullaby
Help me forget our sad goodbye,
Our parting brought melancholy
Cece’s lullaby, sing to me.

Make me blush with forget-me-nots
Bring back the hues on grayish spots
For death arrived in such a rush
With forget-me-nots, make me blush.

Sing one more time my daughter’s song
Let her sleep for her struggle’s long
Pain is gone, a forgotten crime
My daughter’s song, sing one more time.

Let them remain, those blue flowers
On her grave they’re fragile showers
Keepsakes of her smiles in the rain
Those blue flowers, let them remain.

Remembering our little angels...

The Swap Quatrain was created by Lorraine M. Kanter. Within the Swap Quatrain each stanza in the poem must be a quatrain (four lines) where the first line is reversed in the fourth line. In addition, line 2 must rhyme with line 1, and line 3 must rhyme with line 4 and so on, BUT not repeat the same rhyming pattern on subsequent
stanzas. (from ShadowPoetry.com)

I love this form of poetry...and you've done it really well. Lovely...
Have a good luck in Steve's contest! He is good editor by the way...
Thanks for sharing this nicely done piece with me

  • WOW I am in total awe and amazement at this beautiful piece of artistry you have shared with all of us here!
This is beautiful and touching and most definately and obviously from the heart. It made me think of the loved ones I've lost along the way, and helped remind me that they are always still with us through out our lives. Thank you for sharing this! I hope you don't mind but I would like to add it to my list of amazing poetry by amazing poets

I think this quatrain may just be my favorite of the entire piece, though truly I adore the whole thing!

    Nice One! !

A lovely sad but well written dedication to a loved one, the difficulty in writing
in this form is not reflected in this poem, which is beautifully expressed in some
    nicely worded imagery....George....

This is a very touching poem. I like that you spread the word about this form in your AN, as well. I'm not suggesting you change anything, especially since this is such a personal write, but I will offer that this line..."Our parting brought melancholy" does not set up the next for a smooth rhyme...or perhaps it's the tempo. I toyed around with it. Like perhaps could read "Departed, I then filled the sea" Just a thought. Thank you for this entry.

  • Beautiful write, and I really loved the rhymes.
    Flowed smoothly.
