Each night "I lay me down to sleep,"
As when a little kid,
And "Pray the Lord my soul to keep,"
As then I also did.
"If I should die before I wake
(We cannot change life's span),
I pray the Lord my soul to take,"
If that should be His plan.
Now times have changed- and so have I,
For life is more complex.
It's full of questions asking "Why?"
With answers that perplex.
Yet I still make that simple plea,
As in my childhood's day,
Then take my rest in faith to see
God's goodness either way.
