High Voltage

Do you have a boyfriend?
Because I think I want to kiss you.
Were all the words you wrote.
So beautiful and simple.
So plain, yet oh-so-free.

As I read the letter over a third time,
Carly asked, "Well, what does it say?"
I was as giddy as a child at Christmas;
I couldn't tell my heart
from my stomach.
I just looked up with a smile so broad,
"He wants to kiss me."

I always imagined what it would be like
to kiss an angel.
And so I went on through the day
lighter than air;
I was walking in the clouds.
"I want to kiss you too"
was all I could think.

That night I went to sleep
with you in my head.
So innocent the thoughts in my mind;
So alluring the dreams.

The alarm clock went off the next morning
and I nearly flew out of bed.
"He wants to kiss me!"
What wonderful motivation to get dressed!
I was dancing until I got into the car.
It felt like an eternity to get to school that morning.
And even longer an eternity before we kissed.

At first I thought you had forgotten...
That is, until the bell rang,
and you stopped me at the lockers.
They couldn't have been more red
than my flushing cheeks had been,
the moment you stood over me
and stopped me from leaving just yet.

I saw it in your eyes.
I could read it in your hand
as it passed along my jawbone,
'til you finally reached behind my ear.
You made me tingle and melt

at the same time!

Then you pulled me close.
Breathing you in made me so dizzy,
I could have collapsed.
My thoughts were spinning wildly,
until I finally felt it.

10 million volts hit me all at once!

An enigmatic surge rushed
thoroughly to my core,

as my hand crept its way
into your hair.
Through slitted eyes
I stole a peek at your angelic face.
(Although I was surprised I could even move.)

Closing my eyes I savored the electricity
flowing through your soft lips.
They seemed to go on forever.
I knew I never wanted it to stop.
I was so hungry for more,
I could barley stand it.
Even in that moment I longed for another.

The intensity that rushed between us
was purely intoxicating.
I never dreamed that it could end.
Sparks flew all around us,
as I got lost in that moment with you.

Author notes

Well, I got lost until the Spanish teacher, Ms. Romero, cleared her throat and told us PDA was not allowed in school. But I can definitely say that it was more than worth it!

please give this an honest crtique
